Finish carpentry for Calgary builders and contractors

If you sub out interior railings, trim or built-ins, I can take the job. One carpenter quotes it, builds it and installs it, and you deal with that same person from the first look at the plans to the last clean-up.

What I do

What I do for builders

I take the interior finish carpentry that a builder would rather hand to a specialist. The work is the same as I do for homeowners, and it is done to the same standard.

  • Interior stair railings

Wood, metal and glass railings, made for the staircase they go on and fitted on site.

  • Trim work

Door and window casing and baseboards, measured, cut and fitted room by room.

  • Built-ins

Shelving and cabinetry built to the wall or alcove, installed by the person who made it.

Choosing a style? The railing styles and parts guide names the profiles, posts, caps and spindles, so a job can be described in the same words.

  • After: a new wood railing and metal spindles on the same faceted sweeping staircase, spindles still wrapped during the install
  • Wood newel post and single knuckle metal spindles during installation
  • Maple handrail with a clear finish and black spindles above a basement stairwell half wall

Why builders sub it out to me

  • One person on site

I measure, build and install the job myself. There are no rotating installers, so you have one carpenter to call and one carpenter to hold to the schedule.

  • Licensed business, WCB covered

Both matter when you bring a sub-contractor onto a job site. I am a licensed business and the work is covered by WCB.

  • Experience behind it

23 years in carpentry, 19 of them running my own business.

What to send with a job

  • Plans, or photos of the stairs and rooms involved
  • Stair lengths, and a count of the doors and windows for trim
  • The style and finish you want, or the parts from the styles guide

Photos on a phone? Text them to (403) 813-3039. From a computer, email them to info@rivermeadow.ca.

How it works

How a builder job runs

The same process homeowners use: photos or plans, then a site visit, then a written quote.

  1. Step 1: Send plans or photos

Text or email photos, or send the plans, with the stair lengths, the rooms and the finish you want. I reply the same working day.

  2. Step 2: Site visit

I look at the job in person and take the measurements I need.

  3. Step 3: Written quote

You receive a written quote, with the style and finish settled in it.

  4. Step 4: Install

I build and install it myself and clean up when I am done.

Does the job stay on schedule?

Customers write about it. These are homeowners, in their own words.

Timing of job start and completion was as per schedule

I do not do exterior or deck railings, commercial aluminum railings or stair treads.
